Moving back to Texas
Lex, Kristi, Katelyn, Levi, and another baby due in late April are moving back to Texas. Pictured here by a Thanksgiving fire at the ranch.

Bobcat
This Bobcat caught slipping away from this feeding area is probably looking for a rabbit, rat, mouse, or bird attracted to the feed.

First hunt of the year, success.
Hunter, Conrad, travels all the way from Washington State to get his South Texas deer. He made a fine shot from about 250 yards.

Oat planting time...
The oats are in. All we need now is some soaking rain. The fall oats give the deer something green to eat when the cold weather sets in.

They all don't make it.
My guess is that predators got this one. Probably coyotes attracted to the blood smell of scraping the velvet off his antlers. This one looks to be a three year old buck.

It's that time of year once again...
Deer are starting to "scrape out". Pictured is one buck that has just completed rubing the "velvet" off of his antlers and another that hasn't started yet.

Pear Apples
There is a good crop of prickly pear cactus "apples" or tunas this year. It always is a curosity to me how they are eaten by wildlife in a short time.

The "Boys" are back...
These bucks all act like buddies now. In about a month they will start to scrape off the velvet on their antlers and not be so chummy.
Ella's favorite at the ranch
These troughs are a welcomed place for a dog to cool down.
She enjoys splashing around and ducking her head under the surface.
Soon she is out and what's next?
Her soakings are always followed by a good roll in the dirt.
