One of the first of many cactus flowers that will bloom...

There are many blooms on the prickly pear cactus and this is the first I have seen bloom.

Crimson Clover blooms...

Crimson Clover that I planted after seeding the oats is starting to bloom.

This year's oats...

This year's oats have grown to new heights compared to past years.

Pictured is one of the pretty sights we saw down at the Borrego Creek ranch today.

Freedom at last, freedom at last!

Pen raised does escaping the trailer and bolting to freedom. They will add some new genetics to the ranch herd.

Stock tank filled up for the first time...

First Antler shed found...

Pictured is the first shed found this year.  Deer in our part of Texas "scrape out" in late September and shed the antlers in late March.

And the rains came...

 By the time all of the water drains into this stock tank it will be filled.

Wonderful rains came... it filled tanks and in some places washed out roads.  All in all it was a welcomed.  What a blessing!

Ranch Birds

It was a nice day yesterday to spend some time at the ranch.  Sandra took some nice pictures of birds and things which we want to share with you.  Enjoy!

Spring is here!

This is a good sign that there will not be any more freezes.

Last days to hunt using MLD permits.

These deer were 345 yards away.  They had a good fix on where I was.  All should be bigger and better next year.

Senderos are filled with lush oats.

This ranch could use some stocker cattle.

Bobwhite (rooster) Quail

I think the quail may be making a comeback.

Sandra and I were out taking bird pictures with her new camera.  We were able to get some neat ones like this Quail hen that paused long enough for a nice picture.
