Proud Mamma...

This is the first doe, a native, to parade her fawn in front of the cameras. They are cute little things aren't they? Now if it can avoid the coyotes and bobcats long enough to be able to out smart and out run them maybe it will have a long life.

Name this buck...

When bucks get big enough or have some interesting characteristic they get to have a name. This native deer had nine points last year. He "exploded" into this, this year. Sandra and I have been kicking around names trying to come up with something appropriate. If anyone has a good idea put it in the comments section. I'm thinking I may need a theme like Indian chiefs or Civil War Generals.

Look at what came to feed...

These are the only four javelinas inside of the high fence. Every so often I get pictures of them.

More Water

This is a view of the big tank from the dam.
This is the spillway of the big tank on the southeast side.

This is the old tank taken from the dam. Everything that will dam water is full and running around.

As full as they can get...

This is the tank above the big tank.
Water is coming across the spillway and has been for a couple of weeks now. The ground is so saturated that it is seeping water in places.

This is the spillway of the "Old Tank" with water coming around it.

This is the tank directly south of the big Oak trees. It too has water running around it's spillway as it gets overflow from the Old Tank. Lots of water, what a nice problem to have. In my lifetime I have never seen a year like this one. I expect never to see another like it again. What a nice thing when your land is on the edge of the desert.

Wildlife

This bunch of wild turkeys crossed the county road and crossed though this gate going into the neighbor's entrance.
This is the oldest of the "native" bucks inside the high fence.

Here are the two "imports". Their antler development is somewhat behind the big native.

Bruto

It will be interesting to see if he pushes out a tenth point on his left side.

Lots of water

This is a small pond at the back of the ranch. Everything is full of water.
There are lots of young bullfrogs like this one. Soon it will be time to go frog gigging.

The "bandits" are back...

Sandra's picture of Kristi and Lex outside of the Grand Old Opry, Nashvill, Tn.

Have you ever wondered how deer are able to see so good at night? Well, here is the answer.....
they are able to turn on their "headlights".

Bucks together in groups

Here are four in this group, all natives, that were inside when I fenced.

Young Turkeys

I've been seeing these young turkeys for a couple of weeks now. I got off a quick photo of them as they were crossing under a fence. I moved up to try for another shot and they were already in the thick stuff.
