The best of the lot...

This is the best of the yearlings. He has eight points on his first set of antlers. I call him 18 B.
My best two year old is this ten point on the left. I call him 210.

The best of the three year olds is this buck, #39.

The best and the only four old is this buck #48.

The best and only five year old is this deer, Ace. He is just completing scraping off his velvet.

The deer on the left is my best six year old. He narrowly edged out my other six year old, Sid. They are my foundation sires. The deer on the right is a two year old I call "Curly".

You never know what will turn up on the pictues from my trail cameras.

#210, what a mess...

This was Ocho last year with his first set of antlers.
This is a two year old ten point on the left. Last year I called him "Ocho" as he had eight points his first year.

If you look at the times on the pictures you will notice that the picture above this one was taken on the eighteenth of September at 9:13 in the evening. This one was taken at 12:55 AM just a few hours later. It doesn't take long once they start this process. He looks a mess though doesn't he?

I'm betting he will be a really outstanding buck in three years when he will be five years old. He is one that will get a name. Have any suggestions?

"Curly" scrapes out.

Pictured is a two year old eight point I've named "Curly" because of the shape of his antlers. These pictures show that it doesn't take long for them to scrape the velvet off of their antlers once they start. I mark this event about the start of South Zone Dove season which starts this weekend. I've noticed on my pictures where the "big boys" are about to rub their's off too.

It looks like Ike will go in at Galveston and Houston

Predictions now show hurricane Ike going in somewhere around Galveston then to Houston. Whew, if so that was a close one for us. I feel badly for those folks. I hope the heed the warnings and evacuate.

This looks serious!

This is the latest estimate of Hurricane Ike's track. This one will take it in at about Corpus Christi. If this one holds we will get some serious wind and rain.
This is one from yesterday it had Ike pointed at what looks like Baffin Bay and the Kenedy Ranch.

Happy Birthday Lex... Sept. 9

Happy Birthday, Lex. I'm putting this up to day because you were born so early in the morning that September 9, 1980. Here he is pictured with another stringer of fish and a smile on his face for besting his old Dad again. Lex, you have been a joy to your Mom and I ever since that wild ride those 28 short years ago. I've been practicing on my fishing skills too. I just might beat you the next time you come in. Ha!

Surprise Party for Raymond

This past weekend we traveled to the Dallas, Fort Worth area to attend a surprise 60th Birthday party for Raymond Kilgore, Kristi's Dad. The party was given by his three "kids" Kristi, Cindy, and Shane. Sunday, Raymond treated us all to a Frisco RoughRiders baseball game with Midland. As you can see by the picture we were all having a great time. It was great to be with Kristi and Lex who flew in from Simpsonville, SC. Cindy and Matt drove in from Hobbs NM.
